"Sharjah Innovation Center" Attracts Chinese Investors at Shanghai Forum
The Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) took part in the First China–SCO Forum on Scientific, Technological and Innovation Cooperation, hosted by the city of Qingdao in the People's Republic of China, where it announced the launch of a strategic initiative targeting Chinese companies, entrepreneurs, and investors. The initiative allows them to establish their companies in the Park's free zone and complete all incorporation procedures and licence issuance remotely through an integrated digital programme, making it easier for them to launch their businesses into the UAE and regional markets, while offering the option to later expand and establish a physical presence within the Park.
H.E. Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park, affirmed that this participation is an extension of the close strategic relations between the UAE and the People's Republic of China, and reflects the Park's continuous keenness to strengthen international cooperation in the fields of scientific research, technology, and innovation.
He said that the Park continues to build strategic partnerships with innovation ecosystems in Asia, with the aim of attracting quality companies, talent, and investments to the Emirate of Sharjah, thereby helping to strengthen its position as a leading regional hub for innovation and the knowledge economy.
The Park's delegation achieved notable global recognition, having been selected to serve on the international jury of the fifth edition of the SCO Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition, held on the sidelines of the forum — which H.E. Hussain Al Mahmoudi considered a clear embodiment of the Park's growing credibility on the world stage.
The jury was tasked with evaluating twenty finalist projects submitted by member states, based on rigorous criteria including the level of innovation, technical excellence, commercial viability, and economic and social impact.
The delegation presented to forum participants the Park's comprehensive innovation ecosystem, highlighting its integrative collaboration model between universities, the public and private sectors, and investors, which aims to accelerate technology transfer mechanisms and convert scientific research outputs into tangible economic projects. The delegation also gave a detailed overview of the Park's advanced infrastructure, research laboratories, innovation centres, and specialised programmes supporting start-ups.
The forum, which saw wide participation from government officials and representatives of the SCO Secretariat, alongside universities, research centres, technology companies, investors, and entrepreneurs from member and partner states, provided an ideal platform for strengthening cooperation in scientific research, expanding effective partnerships, and encouraging investment in future industries.
On the sidelines of the forum, the Park's delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with a number of Chinese universities, research institutions, and technology companies, to explore avenues of joint cooperation in vital fields including artificial intelligence, advanced technology, the digital economy, sustainability, advanced manufacturing, and technology transfer, as well as to explore opportunities for launching joint future initiatives and projects.
