Dubai Police Celebrates International Day Against Drugs

His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, the Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, inaugurated the Dubai Police platform to celebrate the International Day Against Drugs, under the slogan "Join Us to Prevent It," organized by the General Department of Drug Control in partnership with the Emirates Health Services, the Community Development Authority, the Dubai Health Authority, the Aman Service, the National Rehabilitation Center, the Irada Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation in Dubai, and internal partners, at the "Dubai Festival City Mall" over three days.
The opening of the events was attended by Brigadier Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director of the General Department of Drug Control at Dubai Police, his deputy Brigadier Khalid bin Muwaiza, representatives of partners, and several officers.
His Excellency Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri emphasized Dubai Police's commitment to participating in all global events and activities such as the International Day Against Drugs, due to the important role this day plays in protecting the community from the scourge of drugs and psychoactive substances and raising awareness and guidance, expressing his gratitude to all the teams involved in the events.
Lieutenant General Al Marri toured the platform's corridors, listened to explanations about the awareness services regarding the harms of drugs provided to visitors, and also reviewed the participation of partners and the services they offer to the public, as well as the daily events and activities that will take place over three days, including seminars, lectures, recorded meetings, raffles, consultative events, and discussion sessions.
Brigadier Eid Mohammed Thani Hareb, Director of the General Department of Drug Control at Dubai Police, stated that the International Day Against Drugs has become a significant event in the UAE, where the Ministry of Interior and all security institutions in the country rally their efforts to combat this toxic scourge and protect our youth from it, while striving to promote community security awareness culture for all segments of society.
He added that the administration has a continuously evolving work system to combat criminal phenomena related to drug trafficking, including anonymous messages randomly sent from numbers of dealers outside the country to local numbers, relying on enticing their customers to purchase these poisons and deposit the payment into bank accounts used by these dealers, in order to avoid being pursued or falling into the hands of anti-narcotics officers.
Colonel Dr. Abdulrahman Sharaf Al-Maamari, Acting Director of the International Protection Center, stated that the International Day Against Drug Abuse is an educational and social occasion, where specialized Dubai Police officers in raising awareness about the harms of drugs meet with members of the public over three days, exchanging suggestions and ideas, understanding the reality and concerns of youth, listening to parents and their complaints, and developing plans and proposals to create a safe, stable family fortified against the attacks of weak souls. Colonel Abdulrahman Al-Maamari praised the active role of the partners of the General Directorate for Drug Control who have contributed and continue to contribute to supporting awareness and rehabilitation work for addiction patients in preparation for their return to life as productive individuals.
His Excellency Abdulrazak Amiri, the Executive Director of the Irada Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation in Dubai, praised the successful and effective role played by the International Protection Center of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics of Dubai Police in raising awareness and preventing the community from the scourge of drugs. The participation of the Irada Center in the community campaign organized by the International Protection Center comes from the shared role of both parties in enhancing community awareness and prevention, and the ongoing cooperation in spreading the culture of addiction treatment. His Excellency emphasized that the role of the Irada Center for Treatment and Rehabilitation in Dubai is a key and complementary role to that of other relevant entities in supporting and assisting those with willpower.
