Cybersecurity Announces Success of National System in Thwarting Cyber Attacks Targeting Financial Sector

The UAE Government's Cybersecurity Council announced the success of the National Cybersecurity System in confronting sophisticated cyberattacks that targeted a number of entities operating in the financial sector, noting that the attacks were detected and handled in accordance with approved national procedures, which contributed to containing their impact and preserving the continuity of financial services and the stability of the digital system.

The Council affirmed that cyber monitoring and response teams operate around the clock within an integrated national system, in coordination with relevant entities, the financial sector, and strategic partners, to ensure the rapid detection, analysis, and response to threats in accordance with best practices and international standards, thereby enhancing the country's readiness to face various cyber risks.

It explained that the attacks included attempts to target digital systems and technical infrastructure, the execution of advanced phishing campaigns, attempts to exploit security vulnerabilities and spread malicious software, in addition to the use of artificial intelligence techniques to develop and increase the sophistication of attack methods — reflecting the continuous evolution in the nature of cyber threats targeting the financial sector worldwide.

It pointed out that the National Cybersecurity System continues to implement proactive measures including continuous monitoring, the exchange of cyber threat intelligence, raising readiness levels, and strengthening early detection and rapid response capabilities, so as to ensure the protection of digital assets and vital systems and preserve the reliability of financial services.

The Cybersecurity Council renewed its call for all entities to comply with national cybersecurity controls and policies, strengthen preventive protection measures, continuously update systems, and promptly report any suspicious cyber indicators or activities through the approved official channels.
