Abu Dhabi Police: Families as First Defense Against Cybercrime

The Community Police Department of the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police, in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Councils, organized an awareness session titled 'Families Facing Cybercrime: Challenges and Solutions' at Al Ain's Al Qaw' Council. The event was attended by local residents, community members, and participants of the 'We Are All Police' program, coinciding with the 'Year of the Family 2026' initiatives aimed at enhancing preventive security and strengthening community partnerships in family protection.

Lieutenant Muhammad Salem Al-Dhary, from Al Qaw' Police Station, emphasized the importance of community councils in raising security awareness among families. He highlighted the role of Abu Dhabi Police in protecting the community from cybercrime through a comprehensive system that combines awareness, prevention, and response to emerging risks, contributing to improved quality of life and community safety.

Lieutenant Muhammad Saleem Al-Dhary, from the Criminal Investigation and Research Department in Al Ain, reviewed the main challenges associated with cybercrimes targeting families, explaining that the rapid technological advancement and the diversity of online fraud methods necessitate raising awareness among community members and promoting a safe digital culture.

He also discussed the efforts made by Abu Dhabi Police in combating cybercrime through specialized units, enhancing monitoring and investigation capabilities, as well as implementing awareness programs, campaigns, and smart initiatives that facilitate reporting cybercrimes and provide secure communication channels with relevant authorities.

He emphasized the importance of cooperation with educational institutions in raising digital awareness among students and instilling safe behaviors when using modern technologies and social media, which contributes to preventing electronic risks and protecting family members.

Lieutenant Mohammed Mubarak Al-Khayali, from the Environmental Police Department, reviewed the role of Abu Dhabi Police in enhancing environmental security and preserving natural resources, through the implementation of environmental regulations and laws, raising awareness of the importance of environmental sustainability, and promoting community responsibility towards the environment.

At the end of the session, attendees praised the efforts of Abu Dhabi Police in enhancing community awareness and keeping up with emerging security challenges, confirming the importance of continuing awareness initiatives that contribute to protecting families and enhancing community security and stability.
