The Attorney General Hosts a Government Delegation to Review the Role of the Public Prosecution in the Criminal Justice System and Its Digital Transformation Experience

His Excellency Counsellor Dr. Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, Attorney General of the Federation, hosted at the headquarters of the State Public Prosecution in Abu Dhabi Her Excellency Maryam bint Ahmed Al Hammadi, Minister of State and Secretary-General of the Cabinet; His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al Darei, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat; His Excellency Mohamed bin Taliah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Government Knowledge Exchange; and His Excellency Ahmed Al Neyadi, Director-General of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat, alongside a number of government leaders, members of the judicial authority and leaders of the State Public Prosecution. This came within the framework of a meeting devoted to reviewing the role of the State Public Prosecution in the criminal justice system, its experience in digital transformation, and exploring the prospects of cooperation and the exchange of institutional expertise.

Members of the Public Prosecution delivered a presentation addressing the competences of the Public Prosecution and its role in the criminal justice system, and its responsibilities in initiating criminal proceedings and representing the public interest, in a manner that strengthens the rule of law and safeguards rights and freedoms.

The attendees were briefed on the Public Prosecution's experience in digital transformation and the progress it has achieved in digitising judicial procedures and developing digital systems and platforms, which has enhanced work efficiency, accelerated the completion of procedures, and elevated the quality of data and services.

In the field of artificial intelligence, the State Public Prosecution reviewed its strategic directions and its projects aimed at employing smart technologies in developing judicial work, most notably the (Virtual Prosecutor Assistant) project supporting legal research and the analysis and summarisation of cases, and the Smart Translation Centre (Bayan) dedicated to the instant translation of documents connected with investigation and litigation work.

The presentation also addressed the Public Prosecution's plans for implementing the directives of the UAE Government on employing assistive artificial intelligence, through expanding the use of Agentic AI and advanced analytics, contributing to raising productivity, accelerating procedures, and enhancing the quality of decisions and services, within a sovereign and secure digital environment, while affirming that judicial competence, the final decision and legal responsibility remain in the hands of the human element.

The meeting concluded by affirming the continuation of cooperation and the exchange of expertise, in a manner that supports the integration of government efforts and enhances the employment of artificial intelligence in developing government work, in line with the UAE's vision for the future.
