Supreme Legislative Committee in Dubai: Rule of Law as a Pillar of Justice, Competitiveness, and Sustainable Development
His Excellency Dr. Ahmad Saeed bin Meshar, Secretary General of the Supreme Legislation Committee in the Emirate of Dubai, affirmed that marking World Law Day embodies the pivotal standing of the law as a pillar of societies governed by justice and fairness, and as a foundation for sustainable social development built on equality in rights and duties.
In a statement on the occasion, bin Meshar said that the importance of the law is not confined to establishing justice, safeguarding rights and regulating activities and administrative, civil, criminal and personal affairs; rather, the rule of law is a principal measure of the competitiveness of nations, the credibility of institutional systems and the attractiveness of economic and investment environments.
He added that this is borne out in reality in the United Arab Emirates, which, thanks to the forward-looking vision and sound directives of the wise leadership, has become a model to be emulated in delivering prompt justice and guaranteeing equality before the law, and in developing a legislative system marked by flexibility and comprehensiveness that keeps pace with the present, anticipates the future and supports the nation’s march of growth and elevation.
He expressed the Committee’s pride in the country’s legal achievements and gains, which have consolidated its standing as a state of law and institutions, extending his greetings and appreciation to legal professionals in the UAE and around the world.
He renewed the Committee’s commitment to moving forward in promoting legal awareness and developing a more flexible and proactive legislative system, in a manner that ensures the supremacy and sovereignty of the law and supports its contribution to achieving justice.
